The Company was the experimental plant of Shanghai Organic Chemical Research Institute under Chinese Academy of Sciences founded in 1959.
In 1985, the plant became an independent business entity and was renamed as Development Company of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, renamed again as Shanghai Synica Chemical Corporation Ltd.

Before the incorporation of the Company in September 2000, the Company had made remarkable achievements in developing some chemical synthetic medicines and organic new materials as well as in the research area relative to production techniques.

The registered capital of the Company is 76 million in RMB.
The business scope of the Company is organic chemical products and organic chemical technical services, essence and spices, synthetic new materials, normal pressure chemical equipment manufacturing and maintenance, design of medium and low pressure containers
